Alan Whelan, was born June 14th 1971. He commenced his working life at the age of 18, one month after finishing secondary school.

He started work at Starc Studios in Dublin. It was here that he initiated his training in sound engineering under the tuition of the late Alan Connaughton. Alan trained in all aspects of sound including the technical aspects of maintenance, wiring, installations, sound proofing and sound theory.

Alan soon became the main house engineer at Starc, recording music for some of the artist listed elsewhere in this site. During his time at Starc, Alan also gained a wealth of experience in PR and Promotion, Artist Management, Recording and Publishing Contracts, and Music Industry legalities. He also acted as booking agent with Starc Records.

After seven years with Starc, Alan decided to go freelance. During this time he worked on many projects in some of the bigger studios in Dublin and Ireland and also acted as front of house engineer on some large scale tours around Europe.

After three years as a freelance engineer, Alan, now at the age of 27, opened his first business, Solitaire Recording Studio Ltd.

In 2000, Alan became Head Of Sound for the touring show Gaelforce Dance. He spent over three years working for this company and touring the world, and this is where he met his partner, Ella Haluk ( www.ellahaluk.com ).

In May 2003 Alan moved to Dreammaker Entertainments International to become Company/Production Manager of Dance Of Desire. Alan resigned this position December 2004 to concentrate on other projects.

The studio has continued running along side Alan's other projects and relocated to a 3125 square feet building on the Meath/Cavan border in 2005

.In 2006, Alan opened Solitaire Management & International Booking Agency, a company booking tours for large scale productions with various promoters around the world.

In January 2006, Alan also rejoined Gaelforce Dance as Production Manager and Head Of Sound. Alan became Production Manager for Marvel Superheroes Live In Action in 2007.

Since Alan started his career, he has worked both as Engineer and/or Producer on over 50 double platinum selling albums for various record companies and artists. In addition he also has his own double platinum album on sale entitled "Celtic Instrumental Airs From Ireland".
